There are certain aspects of your life where legalities will come into play. And being a driver is one of these aspects. Now, we’d all love to be able to drive. It gives us a freedom and independence that it’s difficult to get from anything else. Driving can change your life for the better, and help you achieve goals.

But, you’ve got to realize that it’s not as simple as just getting behind the wheel of a car. There are legal requirements you’re going to have to fulfill before you can drive. These are all things that you’ll want to sort out as soon as possible. If you’re a little unsure what they are then here is a list to help you.

Let’s start with the basics to begin with. You can’t drive unless you have a valid licence, and that’s the long and short of it. To secure said licence, you’re going to need to pass a DVLA theory test and then a practical. So you might need to think about taking some extra lessons to help you prepare for the test. Once you’ve passed, you’ll be sent your licence, and then you’re qualified as a driver! Make sure you do what you can to keep the licence as clean as possible so you can keep your car on the road.

Display Correct Number Plate

It sounds like something we all take for granted, but your number plate matters. You’ve got to make sure you display a valid and correct licence plate on the front and back of the vehicle at all times. Of course, you can customize your plates, as long as they adhere to the rules in place. And you need to make sure the plates you display are the same ones you registered your car with. If you change your plates without telling anyone, you could be in big trouble.

MOT Test

All cars have to undergo a rigorous road safety test known as an MOT. This is to find out whether or not your vehicle is capable of being on the road. It needs to be safe to drive, and not pose a hazard to other people. You need to have an up to date MOT certificate to prove you have had your vehicle checked and serviced. Make sure you think about getting fairly regular MOT checks done on your vehicle. That way you can always be sure you’re going to stay safe on the roads.

Parking Permit

Some areas you live in might require you to have parking permits. If you’re going to park your car on the street outside your home, you may need to display a permit. This is something you have to do by law, or you risk getting fined or clamped. You will need to buy these permits and provide proof of your address. Then you’ll have to display them whenever the car is parked. Make sure you don’t forget to do this, or you could be facing a nasty fine.

If you’re serious about becoming a driver you need to make sure you have all these things first. They are the legal requirements necessary to start driving. You shouldn’t even entertain the notion of getting behind the wheel without all of these things. Make sure you start taking steps to get them right now, so you can complete the process of becoming a driver!
