Traffic Law Violations

Driving a car comes with a lot of responsibilities. You’d think that people don’t understand that given the amount of accidents that we see on our roads! At the end of the day, many crashes are preventable and are caused by human error. That’s why the laws of the road are so important, and why we need to adhere to them at all times.

So, it doesn’t matter what you’re using this article for. Maybe it’s a refresher, or maybe you’re new to driving entirely? Either way, let us present you with ten traffic violations that you must avoid at all costs.

Speeding

Speeding

We all know that speeding is against the law, but so many of us still do it. It doesn’t take a genius to realize that speeding can lead to severe incidents if things get out of hand. Your chances of losing control of the car become much higher, and before you know it, you could be in a serious situation. It doesn’t take much to cause a high-speed crash, and the chances of getting out of something like that alive aren’t that great. It should go without saying that you should never speed on the road.

Drunk Driving

By choosing to drive on our roads, you’re making a promise that you won’t do so while drunk. Not only will this put your own health at risk, but it’ll put others at risk as well. It doesn’t take much to get over the limit, either. Many of us believe that we can get away with a quick drink before we head off, but that’s not necessarily the case. Needless to say, if you get pulled over and you’re over the limit, you’re in trouble. You’ll be slapped with a DUI for starters. As stated at www.adamblawler.com/southern-illinois-marion-criminal-defense-law/, you could also end up with fines or jail time!

Running Red Lights

Running Red Lights

It’s so tempting to run the red light when you notice it changing ever so quickly. We’ve all seen it happen, and let’s be honest; it happens on a very regular basis. However, running a red light comes with many dangers. It doesn’t take much to find yourself in a serious situation, especially if other cars can’t see you. You might only suffer a near-miss, or you could be in a head-on collision resulting in severe injuries. Is it really worth it just to save an extra thirty seconds of time? Of course not.

Failing To Use Seat Belt

Here’s another one that we should never see on our roads. It takes all of five seconds to strap on your seatbelt when you get into a car. It means that if you should get into a crash, the belt will do whatever it can to stop you flying forwards. It’s a very important safety feature, so why do so many people neglect it? If you’re caught driving without a seatbelt, you’ll more than likely get fined. What a waste of money that is! You’ve thrown away cash just because you didn’t take five seconds to put on that belt!

Using Handheld Device

Using Handheld Device

I doubt that this will surprise anyone! We’ve all heard the horror stories of life-ending crashes caused by mobile phones. We’re glued to them in our everyday lives, and unfortunately, that seems to extend to the car. The last thing you should be doing when you’re behind the wheel is playing with handheld devices. If you have to make a call, get a hands-free system from a website like www.parrot.com. GPS devices and MP3 players are culprits, too. Don’t mess with them while you’re driving, or the consequences could be severe.

Driving Recklessly

Simply driving in a reckless manner is something that you must avoid. There are lots of reasons why you might do this. You might not understand the road laws very well, in which case, you should be brushing up on your knowledge. You might be overly tired, which calls for lots of rest before you get back behind the wheel. It could even be that you haven’t maintained your vehicle properly, and you’re finding it difficult to control.

Failing To Adhere To Correct Procedures

If you don’t understand what all the different signs mean when you’re driving past them, that’s a worrying thing. You need to know what these signs are telling you, as they are there to keep everyone safe. You might not adhere to procedures such as changing lanes properly or giving way to another vehicle. You might get lucky with a few near-misses, but it won’t be long before your luck runs out. Make sure you know exactly what procedures you should be carrying out, wherever you’re driving.

Not Stopping For Others

This is an easy one that you should never struggle with. Simply put; you need to stop for others. If you come to a pedestrian stop and people want to cross the road, you must allow them to do so. Similarly, the same scenario goes for situations such as stopping for school children that are trying to get to their school. Of course, if the police pull you over for any reason, you must stop for them, too. If you don’t, you’re going to have a potential chase on your hands!

A Lack Of Understanding Of Local Laws

A Lack Of Understanding Of Local Laws

Be aware that if you’re going on vacation, you need to understand the local laws of the road. Different places have different laws, so make sure you brush up on these before you head out there. If you don’t, you could be putting yourself and others at risk. You also might get pulled over and fined by the cops. It doesn’t matter that you aren’t familiar with the local area; you should be. If you aren’t fully prepared to be driving in a different location, you shouldn’t be doing so in the first place.

Driving Without A License

Please, please, please don’t drive without a license! This is the most obvious one of them all, and you will be caught at some point! I know it’s annoying to have to go through the entire process of getting one, but it’s there to keep everyone safe! Don’t try to drive without a license or the penalties could be huge.
