The stage for an exciting 2014 season of BMW Motorrad Motorsport has been started. The main focus of current seasons was just to enhance Superbike World Championship’ works engagement. BMW is expanding its customer racing programme, so BMW Motorrad Motorsport is prominent in many world championship, national championships and other international racing series of 2014. The full focus of such prominence is only the customers.
According to Vice President Sales and Marketing BMW Motorrad, Heiner Faust:
“With our orientation towards global customer racing, we have taken an important step towards a successful future in motorsport.Our involvement in a widespread range of racing series allows us to ensure BMW Motorrad is even better known around the world. In the future all our privateer BMW teams and riders will receive even more comprehensive support. This way we can achieve a more intense bond between the customer and our brand. We can also gain more customers, which in turn ensures we are represented on an even wider basis in international motorsport.”
BMW Motorrad Motorspot is supporting:
- BMW Motorrad Italia Superbike Team with rider Sylvain Barrier (FR) and BMW Team Toth with Imre Toth and Peter Sebestyen (both HU) in Superbike World Championship and the new EVO class of the Superbike World Championship
- Team Penz13.com BMW Racing with Jason Pridmore (US), Pedro Vallcaneras (ES) and Arie Vos (NL) in the FIM Endurance World Cup
- Buildbase BMW Motorrad with James Westmoreland (GB), Ryuichi Kiyonari (JP) and Lee Jackson (GB) in British Superbike Championship (BSB)
In the most exciting International German Motorcyle Championship, BMW Motorrad Motorsport supporting team will join other BMW racing teams such as Zon Remeha BMW with Markus Reiterberger (DE) and Bastien Mackels (BE), Wilbers BMW Racing with Stefan Nebel (DE) and Lucy Glöckner (DE) as well as Van Zon alpha Technik BMW by Herpigny with rider Leon Bovee (NL).
BMW Motorrad Motorsport is also taking part into very popular road-racing events such as the Macau Grand Prix, the North West 200 and the Ulster Grand Prix and the Isle of Man TT.
Customer racing programme at BMW Motorrad Motorsport earned name and fame in just three years, this program was started in 2011. This racing program includes customer teams and riders, who compete to win races and titles on the BMW S 1000 RR. BMW offers the on-site technical support as a part of this programme; BMW Motorrad Motorsport experts travel with teams during racing season just to assist them.
“The Superbike World Championship is familiar terrain for us, and we will face the new challenge of the EVO class with great enthusiasm,” said Berthold Hauser, Technical Director of BMW Motorrad Motorsport. “We worked closely with our partner teams over the winter, in order to implement the technical specifications in the new regulations. We will consistently continue this support throughout the season with our engineers, who will work on-site with the teams at all the races. Unfortunately our riders did not escape injury on the opening weekend, but congratulations to Glenn Allerton who showed a strong performance on our Evo RR. I am convinced BMW can once again impress in the Superbike World Championship this year. And not just there, but also in all the other series in which BMW Motorrad customer teams compete with our support.”
The BMW Motorrad Motorsport will take part in some selected races during 2014 WSBK racing season in Europe and also in local market races. The basic purpose of being so active in racing is only to bring BMW Motorrad Brand closer to the customers.
